When I was pregnant with Isaac, my mother was debating what she would land on for her title as “Grandmother.” “I’m too young for that!” She said. I shared I loved “Nana,” but that didn’t do it for her either. “You can just call me ‘other mother.’” And so now it’s OMO for short. And it is most perfectly fitting.
My mom first made this pie for a Sunday School pool party she held at my Papa’s house (her dad). Each mom called at different times asking for the recipe of that “amazing pie Mrs. Demarkles made!” And each one of them never stopped asking their moms to make it.
I have been devouring this homemade treat ever since I can remember… the boys now well rehearsed to request it for most occasions. Isaac is a purist and loves the classic vanilla, but coffee and peppermint are phenomenal flavor choices. If I were to pick a new flavor to try right now, it would be strawberry!
